Sharon Geffen studied Arts at University of Cape Town and is a qualified children’s librarian. Sharon has worked at Herzlia Highlands, where has run the library for the past 28 years. Sharon has been teaching drama to our Little People since 2007. She is a pre-literacy expert and uses the medium of drama to convey linguistic skills to young children. Sharon is passionate about teaching drama, and is always looking for new and creative ways to engage her learners.

Sharon’s drama programme encourages a variety of dramatic methods which combat the negative effects of technology on the young brain. Skills promoting focus, memory training, literacy and numeracy skills are put into place. Through stories, poetry, puppets, nursery rhymes, drama, mime, dance, music and movement our talented drama teacher enriches our little people’s vocabulary, imaginations, listening skills and acting abilities, giving them confidence and self-esteem. The children enact dramatic scenes with dress up and props. They are taught to articulate clearly and to “own” the stage, discarding inhibitions and enjoying new found confidence.
